Marriage is more than just a ring.

How beautiful it is to marry a spouse who values God as his/her source and nourishment! Someone who has a testimony of salvation, a thriving spiritual root or better, a teachable spirit that can willingly take up the call to spiritual growth. Someone who will love you better because he/she loves the Lord and readily magnets the virtues of His likeness.
Life is designed by God in a way as to pull us closer to Him. Until you come to the point where your life depends on God and not on your spouse, nor moral standard, you are missing something valuable.
To what extent is your relationship drawing you closer to God? To what extent has it helped you increase your spiritual values? To what extent is your relationship pleasing God? To what extent has carnality been disadvantaged in your relationship because you've found the fear of God in your spouse-to-be as an aid to building yours.
The spiritual flavour around your life will determine the future stability of your relationship and marriage. A relationship truly has a future if the two partners are leading in individual spirituality. As a child of God, don't settle for just anybody. Marry someone who is rich towards God. Marry someone whom you share Jesus with as a mutual friend. Marry someone who connects with your spiritual background, ideologies, beliefs and convictions.
No one is truly rich enough in anything else if he is not yet rich in God. No one is rich enough in wisdom if he is not rich in God. A lot of beautiful wives out there are not useful to God. Same goes for the husbands. Who will teach your children the ways of God?
If indeed you are spiritual, marry your kind. Be a witness to your partner's spiritual investment and growth. Set your eyes on your kind. Don't manage an unbeliever hoping that he will some day change. He might kill you first. Marry someone whose God is your God. Marry someone who can bring God's presence into your home. Marry someone who can listen to God's voice even in your voice. Marry someone whose voice of worship can wake you up with a hunger to want some more of God. Marry someone who will show your children the ways of God.
Spirituality influences marital success. Marriage should be the fusion of two spiritual beings that God is working on everyday.
Beware! Don't promise marriage to an unbeliever. Can your love withstand his/her roots? If it's too hard to find a relationship with God, don't make it too cheap for him/her to find you.
